7 Methods for Getting Rid of Acne
- Do not use a washcloth to wash your face. The material can be harsh on your skin, and the cloth can harbor bacteria that will create more acne outbreaks.
- Pat your face dry with flat cloth diapers. They are soft and gentle to your face. Use a fresh cloth every day, and wash them with a gentle baby detergent. Regular detergent can leave a residue on the cloth that can cause skin irritation.
- Keep your skin clean by washing your face twice a day. Find a fragrance-free water-soluble cleanser that works well with your skin. Ones that contain glycerin and/or hyaluronic acid tend to work best with acne prone skin. Your skin should feel fresh and free of tightness.
- Don’t touch your face or squeeze your pimples. Oils and bacteria from your hands can cause acne flare ups and it can lead to scaring. Avoid wearing hats and head bands that touch your forehead, but do try to keep your hair off of your face.
- Stay hydrated. Drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of clean filtered water every day. It is critical to keep your body cleansed of toxins, and it aides in proper skin cell renewal.
- Exercise for at least 30 minutes 3 times every week. Exercise can help regulate hormones which cause acne and oil production on your skin.
- Try to avoid foods that are common causes of allergies (Nuts, Dairy, Wheat, Eggs, Shellfish, and Soy). Try to remove at least one of these food items from your diet for a minimum of one week and see if there is any improvement in your skin. If not you can add it back in to your diet and try another.
